Lily Creek Farm
Australian Grown Tropical Fruits
How we farm
At Lily Creek Farm we embrace green, sustainable agricultural principles by using renewable energy wherever possible, from using solar power to irrigate our crops and recharge our electrical vehicles. Through innovation and implementation of new green technologies and utilising proven farm methods we are able to send nothing but the best and freshest fruits to the markets.
We believe that maintaining healthy soils and vibrant ecosystems produce healthy and delicious fruits while working to retain water and provide the plants with the nutrients they need. We promote diversity in our agroecosystems to develop the resilience of healthy crops and enrich the soil. We reduce the chemical inputs to a minimum to conserve the integrity of the water supply and support the development of living soils. We cultivate our own natural hay, using it as mulch to conserve soil moisture, improve fertility and health of the soil and reduce weed growth around the plants.
Lily Creek farm practises the sustainable and ancient technique of fallow farming, rotating passionfruit vines to allow the soil to recover and restore organic matter while maintaining moisture and disrupting the pathogens by removing their hosts.
Flower pollination is managed by the farms’ personal army of bees which can be seen busily attending the flowers in the orchards. These flowers then give way to beautiful, delicious fruit ready for the picking. Once the fruits get picked they go through a wash and are then packed and sent to the Brisbane markets.
By using green and sustainable principles, we are paving the way to a more independent and prosperous future.
